Sam’s Club Is Reportedly Also Clearancing Xbox Consoles Like Costco

Must read

In a rather interesting turn of events, Costco is not the only U.S.-based retailer to be clearancing its stock of Xbox Series X and S consoles. That’s because its competitor, Sam’s Club, has also begun the process of eliminating existing stock, too.

As first shared on social media by CAG, both the Series S and Series X are under some massive discounts, with the Series S being for as low as $179 and the Series X for as low as $279. Bear in mind, with the recent price increases, the Series S is meant to retail at $399.99 and the 1TB Series X at $599.99, respectively, making these discounts pretty otherworldly.

Of course, you’ll need a membership to Sam’s Club to potentially secure a console, and discounts are subject to regional availability and pricing. Still, it represents another massive blow for a brand that has weathered several in the past few days alone, including blowback from increasing Game Pass Ultimate subscription prices.

It’s Unclear Why Sam’s Club Has Also Begun Getting Rid Of Xbox Stock

While it would be easy to surmise that Sam’s Club has decided to leave the Xbox business behind altogether, nothing from the corporate level has been communicated.

However, that does not mean corporate won’t comment at some point, especially if asked. Following reports of mass discounts at Costco, the company confirmed that it was indeed pulling the Xbox Series line of consoles from its available offerings, calling the move a “business decision.” In a particular cruel twist, it noted that there are ongoing deals for the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.

As it stands, the two warehouse retailers remain as the only storefronts to be discounting the current-gen hardware. Whether other stores, such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy or GameStop follow suit, will be fascinating to watch.
